Dear Colleagues,
We are a multidisciplinary team from Cruces University Hospital, Biocruces Bizkaia Health Research Institute and Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL) focused on COGNITIVE NEUROSURGERY.
Since our collaboration in 2014, we have focused on two fundamental lines, one directly related to clinical practice and the other more related to basic research. The main objective of the first line is to create tools and protocols that allow the optimal functional mapping of the regions affected by the tumor and the surrounding areas. The second line, on the other hand, seeks to understand the brain plasticity mechanisms that allow the patients’ cognitive recovery. These two lines meet when we talk about PATIENTS. The quality of life of the patients and their families depends to a large extent on the preservation of their cognitive abilities (language, memory, executive functions, attention, etc.). To the extent that patients experience a full recovery, they will be able to recover their professional and personal lives. Enabling their independence and reintegration into society is our fundamental goal.
On this basis, we have organized this meeting in which top professionals from diverse areas will be delighted to share their knowledge and experience to give us an innovative vision of COGNITIVE NEUROSURGERY and its implications for patients’ long-term survival and quality of life.
This one-day workshop will be held in the conference hall of Cruces University Hospital near Bilbao on the 2nd of December 2022. Our aim is to create a framework for dialogue and interaction between different disciplines in order to promote possible future EUROPEAN collaborative projects.
Register now and join us in the metropolitan area of Bilbao!
