The purpose of this study was to obtain information about differences in eye movements between controls and acquired dyslexics Spanish patients to understand the cognitive processes underlying. There is not much research with this technique in acquired dyslexic population. We designed a sentence reading task, where length (long and short) and frequency (high and low) of a critical noun were manipulated to create four experimental groups of 20 sentences each. All sentences have the same grammatical structure with a critical word in a fixed position. Five adults patients diagnosed as phonological dyslexic and five controls age and educational level matched participated in the study. Eye movements were registered. The general results indicated that in early measures as a First Fixation Time no significant differences between groups were found. However the differences were high in the time they spent in refixation and rereading, showing that patients had to review abnormally the words. Related to localization measures, patients showed a displaced to the beginning of the word relative to controls. However, we could find some eye movement parameters very different between patients whose performance in reading aloud words and non words are similar.
